CBD, simply put is a natrually occurring compound found in the cannabis or hemp plant. It has a rich history as medicine going back thousands of years. We will get into the nitty gritty of CBD and how it works, helps and is used in future posts!
Cannabidiol (it took me a while to be able to pronounce it, so don't be shy...its... can·na·bi·di·ol | \ ˌka-nə-bə-ˈdī-ˌȯl ) is a phytocannabinoid discovered in 1940. It is one of 113 identified cannabinoids in cannabis plants and accounts for up to 40% of the plant's extract. In 2018, clinical research on cannabidiol included preliminary studies of anxiety, cognition, movement disorders, and pain. (info from wikipedia).
It's amazing stuff. So amazing I searched for it in the black market lol
The first time I tried CBD was from another stylist friend. He had some black market CBD with THC, a little labeless jar made in his client’s kitchen. At that time nothing was legal–– in any state––so we secretly slathered our sore shoulders and wrists with homemade salve and it worked!
The pain of being a hair stylist.
You know the pain of screaming wrists after a long Saturday of “royal” blow outs. Lovingly, you manipulate each section of hair round and round the boar bristle brush. Your wrists are hot and fiery with anger, not to mention shoulders so tense they make concrete jealous.
Regardless of how much we practice good ergonomics or work out like fiends, let’s face it… we willingly sacrifice our bodies in the name of a precision cut or show-stopping style. If you suffer from physical pain, give CBD a try!
BLUMSI launches next month, keep an eye out for more details!
